This keyboard for Mac computers will allow you to write any* BC First Nations language alongside French and English. See below for installation and use instructions!

*– I apologise, this keyboard does not write the Syllabics for Dane-zaa (ᑕᓀ ᖚ) or Dakelh (ᑕᗸᒡ).

Instructions:

  1. Right-click and download ‘British Columbia.bundle’
  2. Right-click and download ‘British Columbia.keylayout’
  3. Unzip ‘British Columbia.bundle’ (double-click file named something like ‘British Columbia.bundle-20170226T194114Z-001’ It may have a .zip at the end)
  4. Go to ‘Library’ by pressing ‘Finder,’ going to ‘Go,’ holding alt click ‘Library’
  5. Go to ‘Keyboard Layouts’
  6. Put ‘British Columbia.bundle’ in this folder
  7. Right-click ‘British Columbia.bundle’ and press ‘Show package contents’
  8. Click ‘Contents’ → ‘Resources’
  9. Replace the ‘British Columbia.keylayout.xml’ with the downloaded ‘British Columbia.keylayout’
  10. Go to ‘System Preferences’ → ‘Keyboard’ → ‘Input Methods’
  11. Press the ‘+’ → ‘Others’ and click ‘British Columbia’
  12. In the top right corner of the screen next to the clock, click the flag and press British Columbia.
